Excellence award for popular family-run guest house

An Ambleside guest house has been recognised as one of the best in the UK.

The Elder Grove, run by Paul, Vicky and Aidan McDougall, has been awarded the Recognition of Excellence by HotelsCombined.

The award is not a ranking list but a group of outstanding accommodations chosen by a strict set of criteria. A winner is rated 9 /10 or over with a minimum of 50 customer reviews certified by HotelsCombined.

Elder Grove boasts a high satisfaction rating among guests and travel industry experts, receiving 325 reviews for an impressive rating of 10 out of 10.

“We are thrilled to be working with the best hotels in the United Kingdom and Elder Grove Bed and Breakfast Ambleside is certainly among them,” said Paulina Krolikowska, market manager of HotelsCombined United Kingdom.

“What is different about the Recognition of Excellence is the way information is gathered and analysed: it all depends on the guest and his or her experience with that particular accommodation.”

“We couldn’t detect any major customer service problems, nor recurring or unresolved issues,” she added. “We were impressed by the way the hotel staff answered the communication team, demonstrating their commitment in providing quick assistance.”

HotelsCombined is an Australian-based company which launched an extensive survey covering different types of accommodation in the United Kingdom. This survey is based on gathering data from millions of guest reviews.

Paul McDougall said: “To achieve this award  when there are so many other excellent B&Bs in the area  is  down  to our wonderful , amazing team here. This award  is due to their efforts and we would like to thank them for everything they do for us .”
